You may have heard on the news about a southern California man
put under 72-hour psychiatric observation when it was found
he owned 100 guns and allegedly had (by rough estimate)
1-million rounds of ammunition stored in his home. The house also
    featured a secret escape tunnel.

My favorite quote from the dimwit television reporter: "Wow! He has
about a million machine gun bullets." The headline referred to it
    as a "massive weapons cache".

By southern California standards someone even owning
100,000 rounds would be called "mentally unstable. Just imagine if
    he lived elsewhere:

In Arizona, he'd be called "an avid gun collector".

In Texas, he'd be called "a novice gun collector".

In Utah, he'd be called "moderately well prepared", but they'd
probably reserve judgment until they made sure that he had a
    corresponding quantity of stored food.

In Montana , he'd be called "The neighborhood 'Go-To' guy".

In Idaho, he'd be called "a likely gubernatorial candidate".

In Wyoming, he'd be called "an eligible bachelor".

And, in Alaska, he'd be called "a typical rural Alaskan".

I gotta agree with Harry on this.

"Once a government is committed to the principle of silencing the voice of
opposition, *it has only one way to go*, and that is down the path of
increasingly repressive measures, until it becomes a source of terror to all
its citizens and creates a country where everyone lives in fear."

In New York, they'd call the guy a "homegrown terrorist" or maybe a "militia extremist." For a certainty the Gestapo would confiscate it all; and they woudl probably report the guy as a dangerous loon to the BATFE so he could not get his guns back -- and I suspect the authorities doing the confiscating would suddenly have their personal collections expanded.

After I passed their evaluation I'd be hiring a lawyer.

Big Brother is alive and well, in some of our more repressed states. It's nothing more than legal theft, and if I was the man, I'd be calling on one of those high powered lawyers to come and get my belongings back! They helped OJ get away with his little deal, so maybe they'd be willing to help an honest person!

The NRA ought to hire Alan Gura to go after the cops and the city government in this case. No one in America performs as well in gun-related cases in the courtroom. Remember, he's the lawyer who argued and won DC vs Heller and McDonald vs Chicago before the Supreme Court.
