For the sake of starting an on-line argument I'm IMing you on the 1903 issue. The problem with brittle receivers on the 1903 model is more prevalent than stated and presents a real danger to shooters. Most sellers of a 1903 will recommend it not be fired regardless of the serial number simply for shooter safety and liability concerns. The 1903A3 is the best bet if you are buying the rifle as a shooter and not a wall hanger. It is best to be safe. The rifle is heavy enough that recoil is easy to handle. Thanks for taking time to read this. Where in MO are you and your husband?
