Currently my major focus is my two newest Pietta replica 1851 Navy cap&ball revolvers. Have been having some problems with ignition, due to only having No.10 caps, but finally found a source for the No.11 caps they really need.
Awaiting delivery of the second holster to match the first, for a proper 'two gun rig'......
As far as what I WANT but don't HAVE, I have a deep and abiding drooling desire for three:
1) An original Harry Sanford designed Automag, preferably the full three-upper cased set in all three calibers.
2) An earlier Colt Python 6" blued - lusted after it since the old Starsky&Hutch series!
3) A Pietta replica of the Civil War era LeMat revolver - nine .44 loads around a central 20Gauge barrel. Major C&B firepower in a very handsome package!
I wouldn't mind having one of those Ruger Talo Birds head Vaqueros in either 45Colt or 45ACP or both. Maybe a Cimmeron Thunderer with 3.5" barrel Birds head in 45Colt.
I am going to pick up a Heritage 22LR/22Mag for the wife to shoot. Found one locally for a good price and she kind of likes the way the single action sits in her hand.
A Smith and Wesson Governor, but having just bought an AR in .308/7.62 (and enough accessories to pay for the Governor) it's kind of out of the question for right now.
I forgot to add that I would love to find a S&W Model 28. I wish I would've had the money in hand when a friend of the family was selling his. He was a Colonel in the Indiana State Police. It had his badge number and date of entrance and retirement from the ISP.
C96 Mauser and the pistol Clint Eastwood used in "For a Few Dollars More", the one with the snake on the grip. The original pistol from the film, not a replica
I've been sorely tempted at shows, but the current prices are just way hard to swallow. I am still kicking myself over a pristine Python the guy was asking $1800 for. No box, or I would have been in serious trouble. The Python is the very definition of a smooth action and trigger pull. You can't understand unless you've tried it.
I like classic wheelguns. They just seem more substantial than the plastic fantastics to me.
So where does that put the Mare's Leg / Ranch Hand guns? Or things like the old Marble's Game Getter or the smooth bore old Colt .455 revolver, complete with a muzzle brake/choke, that I decided was maybe not quite legal when it was at an auction a year ago? Maybe we need a firearms misfit forum??
Nothing's fun after the S&W 500 for me. Goes "BOOM" big time, very accurate, and could kill a bear with the shock wave on a near miss.
