Just saying. I brought them all out of the safe's, and their personal defense locations.

After 40+ years of trading and buying, I think that I am finally good to go. I have more S&W revolvers, but a decent amount of Colt handguns. I really don't need another handgun.

I got this nickel Colt Detective Special as my second new gun buy (current picture):

I love this old gun. My other Colts are 1911's. I owned and fired a bunch of other Colt SA, double actions, and 1911's. Too many to mention.

What do you have?

My best S&W revolver is a blue .357 Magnum (a pre-27) 3 1/2". It has a matching gold box. It later lettered to 7-6-1951.

I am done with looking for handguns. I think I have enough.

I am serious as I have exactly the number in good condition that I need for defense and hobby purposes.

Ok, I'd buy one at some low price to value, but that ain't happening anytime soon. ;)

My first hint of having too many was finding a .38 Special snub in a safe and not remembering that I owned it. My next thing was realizing that I had a few K-frame and J-frame revolvers (all in .22LR) which I never fired (they needed a new home).

I do own three in nickel. This is a Model 27 which was shipped from the factory on 3-14-1960 (with a box and tools). They don't make 'em like this anymore:

Vintage Racer: Reason to :) another :) K
I say nothing wrong with a modern Model 66.

I am a P&R (pinned barrel, recessed cylinder) guy. Most are 4-screw and 5-screw (made from ~1950 until ~1963). They were made by hand then (no fancy CNC machines).

I have more than enough guns in general for my needed purposes too...but I just can't figure out how to stop them from mating in the gun vault. Seems like every time I turn around another arrives.:D

...4 is a good number.
I meant three S&W Model 27's (one is actually a pre-27). I also have the above Colt Detective Special so I'm good to go with four. :D

My car gun is a stainless steel Colt Gold Cup Trophy (since 2010). It stays in the car although I may holster (ankle or belt) a smaller revolver when going into the big population areas.

So, I am good with a CNC 1911. This is a 2011 Colt Gold Cup National Match in royal blue:

Just saying, I think the new Colt's (or Wilson, or Ed Brown, etc.) are good and tight due to computer CNC machines. There is a lot of force and movement in a semi-automatic .45 ACP which needs tight tolerances to stay accurate.

A revolver just turns the cylinder with a stop as the cylinder lines up to the barrel.

REPEAT AFTER ME:

There is no such thing as too many pistols.

Repeat after me::D

You can get carried away and accumulate too many handguns. You need to also buy a few rifles:

I am aiming for 50:50 on handguns and rifles.
They can't all be Model 94s. What are they, top to bottom? The only one I own is Grandpa's Model 1894, built long before the yankee gummint required safeties. ncnascarlady has it on loan in case she has the chance to go deer hunting.

I probably shouldn't admit this but I "lost" one of mine about 2 years ago. A Ruger SR9 and it had three, full, 17 magazines with it. My late wife had bought that for me some 15 years ago. I looked all over and just could not figure where I lost that.
I even wondered if somehow I had left it at the range on one of those days where I had several other handguns with me.
I recalled using 4wd to get in the range in the snow and might not have seen it if it fell out of the box. But that didn't "fit" because I use revolvers when in snow so I don't lose brass.
I was reluctant to ask around if anyone found one and I really did not believe I had left it anywhere.
I looked in every nook and cranny. I recall stashing a pistol in a locked outbuilding in case I needed one and couldn't get back into the house. But that was not the one.
I began to feel like a real idiot and was feeling the loss of one of my "little sheep".

I started getting some hunting gear ready a couple of months ago, and pulled out a small field pack that I hadn't used in a long while. And there was my little sheep - the SR9!

Lessons learned? Yup!
#1 CRS Syndrome creeps up due to ordinary distractions! All the more reason to stick with the old habits so I don't have to remember.
#2 If I can't remember where I left a pistol in my house...it's a good thing to have others available until I stumble across it again.
#3 If a Biteme/Harlot Gestapo should try to seize my guns, there's a good chance I won't remember owning them anyway. (don't believe that)
Just enough? Nah!
