Picked it up yesterday after the initial lost FOID hiccup (see my "Denied" post). Card went through after the ISPD released the hold on the card and I finally got to bring the rifle home after the 72 Hr. waiting period.

It's a 1971 Interarms Mark X in .270 made by Zestava Arms in the former Czech Republic. I was so wowed by the rifle's condition when I bought it, I thought it had a period correct 4X fixed Redfield Widefield because the objective was smaller than today's 40mm norm. It turns out it is a vintage 3-9 variable Widefield in like new condition. The optics appear crystal clear so I will just shoot it that way for now.

What a beauty! What do you want to trade for? Got lots of good stuff. LOL I love my Interarms .375 H&H.

Thanks! Yeah, she looks like a keeper. Hoping it shoots as good as it looks. I thought the scope was a relic but was amazed after looking up the used values for similar scopes. They get up to $250 for a clean, used Widefield scope. I guess a lot of guys like the period correct scope to go with the rifle.

375 H&H? That would be a sure shoulder separation for me lol!

Love that type of scope. The old Redfields were great scopes. I have several Wideview ones too. And that is a controlled feed too! Believe it or not the .375 kicks less than a .338 Win mag. It's more of a push. And if you reload, you can load it down. I recently loaded 235 gr. Speer's for it with IMR 4895 and feels like an ought 6. You will love that rifle. Great purchase. My .270 is a pre 64 Win Mod. 70 controlled feed. They are smooth operators.

That's the same scope that came on my Winchester Model 70 in 270. Does the adjustments for the scope have clicks or do they just turn smoothly? Mine turns smoothly and has no clicks while adjusting the scope. Nice looking rifle though, the one I lost to dad in 7X57 had a synthetic stock on it, and it shoots pretty good.

Thanks! I had driven 2-1/2 Hrs to a Cabella's location that showed a Mauser 3000 in their Gun Library on-line. In-hand description said the recoil pad was crumbling and the stock has some light finish wear but overall a nice rifle. I got there and it was way worse than I expected with dings down into the wood and a stock that was very dark and didn't show any figure at all like the pics. The guy at Cabella's said their light box used for the photos tends to brighten them up.

I told the guy I was disappointed and asked if he had anything similar. He said yeah, I just took a rifle in trade that we haven't photographed or listed yet and brought this one out. I looked it over and put a death grip on it and would let go until I paid for it! I love these old school Mauser sporters and had a Parker Hale in .270 similar to this one over 40 years ago.

Thanks guys! I really felt like I just hit the lottery getting tone in this condition. I may have paid a bit more than I should have ($629.00 after negotiations and they don't like to deal on new arrivals) but I just felt it was in exceptional condition.
I've been hunting with one in .308 for about 25 years. I don't believe you'll regret the purchase.

Good for you onthepaper! Just now saw this. Great caliber too!

The Interarms Mark X always has represented good value in my mind. The tightest 5-shot group I ever shot off the bench rest at 100 yards with a center fire cartridge larger than .22 bore was done with this 7X57 Mark X, something like .62 inches. Scope is a Lyman All American 6X.

Shown here with the front sight hood scooted forward from recoil.

Nice! A 0.62" - 5 shot group? That is amazing. Love the period correct scope on it too. Nice rig.
