Well in the mess of this ammo craze I saw 3 boxes of 17 WSM in the Mt. Airy walmart. 50 rounds to a box and priced at 14.97 per box, it is right on line with 22 Mag, if this is going to be the regular price I can see this catching on!

Hey RUM. That does seem pretty cheap for that ammo. I was at a Bass Pro Shop today and they had this ammo for closer to $18. I was getting CCI 40 grain ammo at Walmart for $11 but that was late last year and have not scored any CCI since. Don't think you will find it cheaper than Wal mart. Scored some Win. 34 grain at gun store near me but had to pay $15 for it. Hope this helps.

I saw some online at Luckygunner for $30 for 50, which is ridiculous. Price gouging cause it's a new round, and cause of the continued hysteria... But that sounds a lot better. If that's the normal price then it might push the .17 hmr out of the spotlight

Agree Tack Driver. Bass pro had quite a few boxes of the New WSM but not 22 magnum or 22LR. I would think this would catch on due to ads of 3000 FPS but am no marketing pro. If it can be had for $15 it should catch on. Seems now days you look for available ammo and see if you can find a gun chambered for it. Stuck with my 22 mag. because of heavier bullets available.

I think this is an interesting cartridge and would probably be a fun shooter but its still too early to tell how well it catches on. It goes 3000 Fps but the bullets are just soo light!

If I were to get a magnum rimfire this would be it, but I just picked up 60 rounds of 7.62x39 for 16.45 tax included and out of my bolt gun it is just like a 22 Mag

I just read more about it and looked at some charts comparing to .17 hmr and .22 mag and wow. If its available as much or more than .22 mag I might have to get one.

Our local Wally World had some .22 mag in stock a few weeks ago - gone now but it lasted about 2 weeks. The Winchester was going for $8.87 and the CCI Maxi-mag was $12.97 for a box. Have not seen any of the new .17 ammo.

Yeah the prices of 7.62x39 and the price of what .223 used to be have always kept me from wanting a magnum rimfire... I've had my SKS for about 3 weeks now and I freakin love how cheap the Tulammo is, $5 at my Walmart. I'm buying an AK off one of my buddies next week, so I'm really gonna be chewing through the x39 :D

Work it out. You pay $5 for 20rds of Tula - that comes to $12.50 for 50rds. If you can buy Winchester .22 magnum for $8.87 for 50rds or CCI for $12.97 for 50rds at Wally World. The price is actually comparable. :31:

But look at how much bigger the x39 is than a .22 mag or .17 wsm, for the same price. If it is $12.97 a box, that really isn't bad. And that's top notch ammo too. Not some fmj range blasting crap. Now that .223 is so darned expensive, the new .17 may find a niche as a sub 175 yd varmint gun

I have the WSM in my shop. It's $14.95, just like the 22Mag. I'm seeing a lot of this ammo coming out, but none of the guns. I did hear of one person having one, but I don't know the guy and have no confirmation.

Two rifles are supposedly soon to be available. Savage makes one that will cost around $400 and then Winchester makes one that will run you about $1200!

The price is comparable but the power level isnt, my cheap blaster FMJ tula ammo has dropped deer without any issues. I am building a 54 cal muzzleloader or I would probably have that 17 WSM in the savage.

This ammo will go the same route as the 17HMR ammo.
Upon introduction in was $8 a box Now it's $15.
So you can expect the price to be $28 in a few years.

I would be interested in buying some of your 17 wsm ammo. I have the savage rifle but no more ammo.

    B mag at walmart

went to walmart on sept 15 to check on ammo. They had a b mag on the rack for 297.00 and ammo was 14.77 a box for 20 grain. bought the gun and my 3 box limit of ammo. went back the next day and got 2 more boxes of the ammo. They said this was the second b mag that they had. I checked 2 other walmarts within 30 miles of the 1 where I found the b mag that same day neither had gotten any 17wsm ammo or guns. these walmarts were in northeast pa.

Should CZ or Ruger make a 17WSM rimfire rifle I may get one. Could be that ammo will be available by the time I get a rifle..
