1903 Mark I

Will someone tell me the difference between the 1903 Mark I and the regular 1903? I understand the difference between the 1903 and the 1903A3, but what is the Mark I?

The Mark I 1903 Springfield was a rifle that was modified to accept the Pedderson device which would allow the rifle to fire a small .30 cartridge semi-auto. the slot in the side of the receiver was the ejection port. A few were converted, they never saw service and they were rebuilt and put into service.
