Yesterday morning I finally took my 1931 hex Tula 91/30 out to the range. Here are some of the details about the session.

    -150 yards
    -Bayonet attached
    -147gr Surplus ammo
-Fired from a sitting bench rest position
    -Steady 10-15mp/h crosswind

I am not liking these targets however, on a bright sunny day at 150 yards, it looked like I was just shooting at a 13x13 inch piece of white paper which made acquizition of the bullseye pretty hard to do with iron sights. However, except for the 3 rounds on the left, 19 rounds landed in a 6x6inch square porton of the target, so I'm happy with that from a 81 year old Mosin

I'd say that makes for a kill!

I agree, I haven't taken to those types of targets, but then I am not a 'precision nut' and worry more about practical accuracy - your rifle has plenty of it.

Yea, I'm no precision nut either. Usually when I fire a new rifle for the first time, I just like to see how accurate it is, but a 13x13 square at that range is a kill in my book. Not that I ever want to use it for that except perhaps hunting, but I feel that with some new targets and maybe a very minute adjustment to the front sight, it will put up a better group.

Nothing wrong with that. With surplus ammo and the inherently rather crude sights, it is pretty decent.

Pretty good for as you said, an old rifle. I've tried using that same type of target without a scope and agree that it is hard to get a decent sight picture with open sights.
