Hey all, new to the Mosin Nagant. Just picked this one up. I am missing the cleaning rod and the front screw for the mag well, does anyone know where I could find these? Thanks.

Right on! Mine's a '38 Tula as well! If you got it at a store, like Big 5 Sporting Goods, I'd go back and ask for the missing parts from another rifle.

Got it from a private seller, trade for work. Never shot it, dont know if I should. Was going to make a display case for it and hang it. Not sure what to do with it.

Story is, was picked up from soilder who blew himself up with booby trap in Germany, rifle was on his back & caught shrapnel in stock. GI took it home to deer hunt & said it was too powerful. Been in attic in grease since 1958. At least thats what the old lady told me.

Wow thats quite the story. And man times have changed with deer hunting catridges. Back then 7.62x54R was considered too powerful, now some consider 300 win mag to be the minimum. Also, you're going to want to lower the rear sight.

Be advised that buymilsurp.com/Mark Kubes have a lot of negative press as per this thread here and the included links.

Are you sure that is a '38? I might be mistaken but I thought that it was 1940 that they started to make round receivers.

I don't know about the years of Tulas, and I'm too lazy to look it up, but my very first Mosin, that started my obsession, is a 1939 Izzy with a round receiver.

You can also purchase a lot of parts for the M44 from Omega Weapons Systems. He has a generally good reputation on his service and parts.

    Springfield Sporters probably has them.

The accessories are post war. Does the rifle have the capture papers?
