my friend has a savage .204ruger and he asked me what grain of ammo to get, either 32 or 40. i dont know because i dont have a .204 ( but it will be my next purchase) anyway what would be the best round for 250-300yd shooting?

I reload and use the 40gr Hornady vmax.I tried both and the 32gr wasnt quite as good for accuracy or wind drift. It is probably ok out to 300yds but the 40gr is better on out. That was in both an AR 26"bbl,with 1in9"twist and a bolt action 26"bbl,1in12"twist. sam.

I've got one in CZ 527 American, and it is partial to the Burger 30gr. I've never tried them past 200 yd. I've not tried the 40 Hornady bullet, but it does not like the 40 Noslers. I'm still pretty much working up loads and haven't settled on a single one yet.
