Can anybody recomend a good solid lever action .22lr for my young son to learn on. I was looking at the Henry's. Know anything about them?

I have looked at the henrys but I am not able to give any real solid feedback on them other than I like their old saying, "Load on Sunday, and shoot all week."

I would recommend the detatchable magazine fed ruger lever action, I cant remember the name, but it is a sharp little gun. Accurate too.

Marlins are nice as well, if you would rather have a tubular magazine. Good luck.

The Henry is an outstanding choice....reasonably priced too.

Bought a Henry when they first came out. Shot shorts, shotshells, and long rifles without any problem. Great gun for the money. $169 at Wal-mart.

Browning makes a great lever action .22 that's a bit smaller and lighter than the Marlin and Winchester. It's a slick little rifle and my first choice for any boy or girl age 10 or older. We use one for our hunter safety classes and the kids love it. They are a bit pricey but well worth the cost.
