The advantage over the .44 Magnum in the muzzle energy department is even more significant – 45%. The company claims that “429 DE is the fastest 44 cal. pistol cartridge on the planet“. the 44 went way past the 40 anything when Elgin Gates magnumized the 44 magnum in the 70's.

I'd have to run my 445 over the chrono again [with a light for caliber 200gr bullet to make things equal to the 40] to recall the velocity numbers.
but I can assure you even the 38-40 in a lever gun struggles mightily to keep up.
neither the 10mm nor the 40 cal BP case will burn 35-40grs of fast rifle powders efficiently like the 445 will.

you might as well use the 38 super if all you want is speed.

I love the 10 mm auto pistol caliber but after recently shooting my 10mm & .44 mag the same range trip, the 10 mm is a pussycat compared to the mighty .44 !
