The 480 Ruger used to be the biggest bore among the higher powered revolver rounds, even if not the most powerful. The 500 S&W eclipsed it pretty well, even though I'd much rather have a 480 myself, but would prefer a 460/454/45 most of all.

ruger screwed up when they downsized the 475linebaugh. in my opinion, it was a big mistake. they should have made the revolver to take both.

Somehow I thought the 480 Ruger took both. I agree it's silly to pass up interchangeability when you don't have to. Look at the S&W 460. Can take 454 Casull and 45 Colt.

nope, the 480 is shorter. to make the super redhawk a 475linebaugh, ruger would have needed to make the pistol a 5 shot to contain the extra pressure. i agree on the interchangeability, the only issue with the big smith and wessons is the size of the pistols- just as easy to carry a light rifle.
