I dropped a small bear with it in September. I was shooting a Ruger and Hornady's factory 325gr. The bear went about 60yds. The shot placement was a bit farther back in the ribs than I would have liked. Good blood trail. Exit wound about the size of a quarter.
Recoil with the original Ruger Grips is as much as I can handle. I would strongly recommend Houge rubber finger groove grips. A friend just bought a Taurus in .480. His seems to have much less recoil and probably a bit more accurate. If I had to do it over again I think I would buy the Taurus. With the porting on the Taurus it is even more important than ever to bring hearing protection even if shooting only one shot while hunting.
Thanks again! I wish I knew how this round compares to shooting a .454 Casull.
