Ok read on a few boards about useing AK mags in an SKS....people kept saying needed to make some modafacation but not what they are?....So Ill bite...is it posible?, a easy conversion or simaler to converting my 25acp to shoot 50 BMG?

not an easy chore, unless your an accomplished machineist with a full shop. besides theres legal ramifications with the BATF.

I've seen the conversion plans on the net. It doesn't look that hard. If I had one, I'd do it.

SKS uses 10,20 and 30 rd mags, I don't see what the Feds would have to say. Oh Yeah don't give a rats behind either. But thats a whole other topic.

I've seen converted ones for sale at gun shows. Them boys wouldn't sell anything illegal

I just cant see why you would want a 30 rd mag when your only firing semi auto. I have a Thompson w/ a 30 rnd stick and its a pain in the ***. I can see why the U.S. Gov. went with a 20 rd. stick in WWII. The SkS really wasnt designed for it(30 rd stick). If it flips your switch I guess go for it. But I think they stick out like a sore thumb.

Removing the upper side plates on the ak mag will get you where you are going.

As long as the SKS was purchased before the high cap ban in 94, who's to say the mag was not all ready in. I am not going to tell them. my SKS had a 30 rd mag , in 1987. And your right who would wan't one. Took mine back out in 1987. Original 10 rd mag faster and easyer to load, with stripper clips. If you buy a SKS pre-ban with a bayonet, you don't have to take it off, just becouse you purchased it after 1994.

i remember seeing an ad in shotgun news awhile back for a conversion kit to enable ak mag use in an sks,not sure who had it. i'll do some digging and see if i can find it.even though the sks is the easiest gun i've ever seen to load w/strippers,i like the idea of just yanking the empty out and stuffing in a fresh load.think i might use one of the factory 20 rounders just the same since they don't get in the way as bad.
