I own both of those guns. They are both good reliable weapons.I like that
particular SKS-M,because of the monte carlo stock.I've got a 5 rd clip for it
and was thinking about deer hunting with it this year. The SAR-1 is a good
reliable 1st time AK. Kinda of' get to know the AK for a cheap price. If you
fall in love with the AK(probable),you'll be looking for an up grade AK....Owning
AK-47's can turn into an obsession. I had my AK obsession about 5 years ago
and it only stopped when I bought a KREBS AK about 7 months ago. I say
buy both....

I am leaning towards the sks. I like the shorter chinses versions that take the AK mags.

$350 is a great price for a SAR-1.

The AK magged SKS is not as reliable as an AK or a stock SKS. I had one and it was great, but I got a stock SKS and a nice AK and have never looked back.

Not as easily as other 223 AKs. Saiga 223s are easier to fit military magsin, and I'm still planning to convert to AR mags eventually.
