    Yep. That's a Feb, '42 British Proofed (London) Lend Lease rifle. The original owner removed the ugly "red" handguard. Rick was able to make one up (for appearance sake only!). It sure adds to the striking appearance of the rifle. The link above is to a few more photos of the rifle.

    Given the popularity of these since Duff's article came out, I doubt that there's a significant detraction from the value due to the original handguard being removed. More often than not the red-painted one's have been removed and those with the originals present would command a premium.
