yep you can see where he put it in a vice and took the barrel off the action.

as outpost mentioned Remington took a lot of these and made the Model 30 in 30-06.
i re-done one for a kid i was mentoring and it doted on Remington made 180gr. ammo.
he used that thing with that ammo to shoot rock chucks, deer and the one elk he was able to find.

i was able to modify a set of mauser rings to fit it and made him a brass trigger guard with some horrible engraving that had his initials.

Be cool if you finished the sporting rifle he was aiming to build. Finish the receiver pretty, rebarrel it and find a nice stock. Then bag you a nice deer in his memory

Not sure anywhere where I could get the work done .
not as skilled as my grandfather.
Nova Scotia Canada dose not have many options.
I did find a barrel yesterday but looks to be to a 303 British.

the hunt continues.

.303 isn't a bad way to go. Should be able to find ammo in Canada anyway.
