Any reason why I should not buy a real Navy Mark 2 Mod 1 Garand?

I have to laugh when people talk about jumping through hoops. I never jumped through any hoops
I simply joined a club, easy as sending $14 to the M1 Collectors Club and then a copy of my Curio Relics License.
If you dont have a C&R a copy of hunting license will work or simply go to the range, shoot off a few rds and have the range officer etc sign off. If you were ever in the Service you dont have to do any of the above besides club membership. These are just a few ways to qualify.
If you dont like CMP thats fine but dont make it sound harder than it is to qualify. To me its worth the few things I have to do to qualify to save hundreds of dollars and get a rifle that has headspace checked, tested fired and guarunteed to function . To me its more of a hassle filling out the forms at the local gun store than buying form CMP
Just my opinion, yours may vary
