Bayonets--

Discussion in 'The Powder Keg' started by ltcboy, Aug 3, 2002.

  1. It seems like when I pick up an SkS, the bayonets always look brand new, even if the gun is in mediochre condition. Are the majority of these things replacements, or are they actually the originals? Seems like they would take forever to sharpen also.

They are most likely the originals. They were only used for practice, and very little practice at that.
I would not advise sharpening them, either. If you hold your hand the wrong way, it can slice your fingers off really easily. The blade bayonets were used strictly for stabbing, not cutting.

  4. here in PRK it's illegal to sharpen them, with all those drive-by, and school bayonetting's and all
