or Eggs Ackley.
Sometimes I think this forum is entirely too much fun !
Hopefully he had lubricant!
Can I say that here?
10mm: more velocity
45: heavier and slower
either way they are both plenty powerful. Heck I consider a 9mm or even .380 to be powerful enough for SD.
10mm can have slightly higher cap due to smaller OD.
I cant believe im saying this but; In my opinion there is nothing wrong with .45acp but 10mm is technically the better round.
Technically; that said i would probably get a .45 over a 10mm solely based upon the concept of ammo availability.
Hmmm.....Smart...It is easier to get forgiveness than permission.
I doubt that he was a "safety" guy.
Back when I first got a 10mm, there were only three places making 10mm ammo...
now almost everyone makes it...and it's relatively easy to find
Even SigSauer ammo makes it! Only place that doesn't carry 10mm is Walmart.
I look at how much my hand hurts after 250 rounds
Literally NOTHING to shoot 45 & 9mm all day...
After the second box of 50 10mm's, I'm starting to feel it...
by the 5th, it's into full on OUCH.
And I'm literally a big old Shrek-sized monster that can push a
1700 pound container of dry ice across a ridged floor semi trailer.
Keeps the riffraff out of it, tho
Most teensy folks barely get thru the first magazine...
I love the look some folks get in their eyes after the 1st shot!!
The "Dang, this thing is serious!" Look...hehehe
I want shattered bone and massive wound cavities in someone that's trying to hurt me
LOL - Yes, but I didn't want to go there
Well, I reload so that is no problem. And .40 cal projectiles are many and cheaper than .45. So I can load them for less. And I KNOW this because I do own a .45 also.
I love my G20SF, as a woods gun I put my 6" lone wolf barrel in it, load it with Buffalo Bore 220gr hard cast bullets moving at over 1200 fps. For home defense I keep the glock barrel in it and load it with Sig Sauer 180gr hollow points moving at about 1250 fps. I just bought some Grizzly Ammo 180gr hollow points and 200gr hard cast moving at over 1300 and 1200 respectively. Haven't shot them yet, but I'm curious to see how they perform.
Maybe, but who needs factory? I reload. On second thought, take away maybe. Double Tap puts out 200 grain @ 1300 fps. Underwood puts out a few 200 grainers at better than 1250 fps.
AND the plaintiff lament of the conquered man: UNCLE, UNCLE. UNCLE !
Just for added food for thought, the court case in which the guy was charged in a defensive shooting when he used a 10mm, his conviction was not primarily because he used a 10mm... there were other factors involved and the one point that lead to his conviction was what he knew at the time he chose to use deadly force vs what was known about the suspect afterwards during court time.
Regardless the conviction was eventually over turned and the law regarding self defense in his home state of Arizona was tweaked a bit to make future cases self defense cases more in the favor of the defender.
It is all about, when necessary, punching a hole in your advasry and make his blood run out as fast as possible. And In that respect, the 9, 40, 45, and the 10 are all equal WHEN you use the best SD ammo out there for the caliber! Nuff said
If I saw a ballerina molester
I shoot him too!
thats him. "that fresh kid from Cleveland."
My Walmarts don't carry much of ANYTHING!
But I have a zillion 10mm cases, a zillion .40 cal projectiles, and many jugs of Blue Dot Smokeless powder!
Maybe, but it is absolutely insane to try for a conviction in a defensive shooting because of a caliber you used!
