Am I right in assuming that installing a butt/shoulder stock on my Contender Super 14 is illegal.
unless you register it as a Short rifle and pay the tax.
Unless someone makes a bona-fide brace for the contender (which I really doubt).
Have David White (https://dandtcustomgunworks.websitetoolbox.com/post/tc-contenders-encores-7271180?pid=1300294077) attach an extension (threaded and pinned) to your barrel and you'll be legit to use buttstock as seen here.
He does great work. I highly recommend him.
This one he rechambered from 30-30 to 308 Bellm.
...what gemihur said!
Unless you're Canadian.
I had a 16.25 inch barrel made for just that reason
So this is illegal.............
^ not exactly. a couple of years ago I read an BATF ruling that exempted original Luger and Mauser C96 shoulder stocked pistols. because of their age and collector status.
Clear as mud, aay?
