My experience is that G3 magazines are better by far. Of course, I use a G3. The best functioning ones I've used are the very light aluminum ones. Steel ones are fine too, I lubricate mine. Also, avoid Western mags at all cost. The good G3 mags are usually distinguished by an intricate stamping at the top. Westerns just havbe a sheet pried up in three places to match the mag well, and a non-functional hole in the center just to look like the original.
