Gentlemen,
This is just a field question for some of the data on the M1 Garand. If you do collecting which of the four markers of the M1 Garand do you collect and for any special reason? If you also shoot the M1 Garand which of them do you find to be your best shooter and for any special reason? This type of question may have been asked many times before but the reason I am asking is because of the many changes made to the M1's during their production run.
Thanks for your input it will help my data on the two subjects.

A Veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard, or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to “The United States of America” for an amount of “up to and including my life.”

Thanks again for taking the time and effort to read this data. I hope you have learned a little of the history of the M1 Garand.

I have all four US makers and two Italian made Garands. I have shot several of them, but mostly shoot a six digit SA with a mint 1952 barrel. I have no real reason other than that was the first one I had to shoot and I like it the best. No lock bar sights to mess with and it looks great. It shoots as well as I can.

Dookiebutt,
Thanks for the comeback. It fits with data on the 1952 barrel. SA made changes to them starting in 1950 when they started new spare parts lines with the new updates.
Thanks again

I've got everything except a Winchester - which I'm looking for - including a Beretta in 7.62 Nato that I'm building from all new Beretta parts. It will be my primary shooter when finished. In the meantime I shoot one or the other of my Springfields. No favorite in the pile.

I am not by any means a collector of Garands. I have, in the last two weeks, acquired a "kit" to build one. Most of the parts in it are SA. The trigger group is WRA. I had a new barrel and a stripped receiver, civilian and SA respectively. I just ordered a new stock set from CMP last week.

I want to build a shooter that also is nice to look at. No match grade mods or part to be added. If it will shoot minute of pie plate in my hands I will be tickled.

I have several battle rifles and used to have a Garand, years back. None seem to give the pleasure to shoot as the old Garand in aught-six does. Maybe my Remington 03-A3, lol.

Long time no visit the site, here. Maybe I will just go back into lurk mode. :burnout:
