My local dealer has a Colt Python for $500..he says it is nickel plated but it looks like hard chrome to me :target: I'm scheming on it..I've never had a Python

oooooooooooooooooo!!!

sounds like a decent price to me, Pythons were the Cadillac of revolvers. i'd pounce on it if its in decent condition.

well..he sold it

:eek: thank God !..I went by there this morning and it was already gone :D :p :rolleyes: I almost gave in..I've always wanted a Python

I do understand why some would like the stainless and for me thats ok. BUT, If you look closely you will see the difference. If you pull the trigger at the same time push the hammer forward(fired position) move the cylinder, Your correct,it doesn't on a blue one,un less its warn out. The early Pythons were beautifully made. Ok,now take a 625 Smith for example and do the same thing. The cylinder rattles. That is not to say the Smiths don't shoot well cause they do. And I go as far to say they have a far better cylinder relase. Try a speed loader, tells the hole story.
