I just picked up a mauser in a 3 way trade. It's a 98 type has the original military stock and the barrel looks original, it has a stright bolt handle and a Columbian crest on the reciever with a 30 stamped on the top of the reciever at the back . After talking to several people, I've come up with many answers. Some say it's an FN that was rebarreled and others say the came from the FN factory as 30-06. Perhaps someone here could set me stright, and give me any other info on this rifle, thanks in advance. I have shot it and it shoots very well 2" to 2 1/2" groups at 100 yards off sandbags at 100 yds with military sights.
