Curious to see what is in the works. I have a pretty good idea though. Several officers in my department have just returned from nearly a year of being called up to active duty. However, just last week, several other officers were called back up for the first time. Something's a brewin'!

Hope he's used to the cold, but looking at your location, I'm assuming that he is.....

I'm not sure if something is really up or if they are just giving the guys a break and sending in fress faces.
Buy the way you said officers? I used to work for the San Antone PD in the demestic Violence div. years ago. Do you work for the SAPD?

Don't ask me why I'm still trying to figure that one out.

  9. For the past two weeks the AF or Marines have been flying training missions through the valleys around here.

My wife and I watched two Commanches go over about a week ago (no whop whop whop with the Hueys......just a big hellashish roar).

Last time we saw training missions was before the Afghanistan airstrikes.

Anyone in the vegas area? The airbase usually heats up before an event. I've seen 'em start red light green light without warning. That was right before the yugo bombing.

Ft. Lewis is pretty quiet right now. 3rd brigade is busy, but the army says they won't be deployable for a till the end of the year. not sure what the 2/75th rangers are up to these days, but i know most of them are still here. we had a bunch of rangers from 1/75th here for a while too.

  13. Ft. Lewis....gawd that conjours up some memories.

In December 1968-January 1969 I was on almost 30 days of barracks restriction there waiting to go overseas. It was nearly all of that that it was cold and damp and before the sun ever came out. It was only then I realized Mt. Rainer was not to the north, lol.

    It was a miserable 30 days....escorted to chow...escorted to PX......mail censored......no telephone calls......felt like I was in prison.

We found out later the barracks restriction had to do with the fact it was at the time of the first anniversary of Charlie's Tet offensive from the north and they were expecting word they were going to do it again. And they had thousands of toops on stand-by.

I guess they were worried about public opinion because at the time, there was not much good sentiment coming from the public .
