Hey guys just wanted to show pics of a recent build I did for a good friend. he bought 2 surplus mosin nagants and restored one original and the other one he gave to me to modernize. kept the original barrel because it was brand new and it would be a shame to get rid of it for now. did a smooth and tune on all the internals and the bolt. brought the trigger down to about 3 1/2 pounds and made a complete stock out of aluminum to keep it lightweight, hydrodipped the whole thing in digital camo and Teflon moly coated the bolt and sights OD Green to compliment the dip, reason I used Teflon coating is because the Teflon has a slick feel to it and works awesome on the bolt. the result is badassery. thinking about reproducing these to sell in the near future.

Interesting take on the Mighty Mosin. What is the felt recoil on that aluminum frame (I'm sorry, but I can't call that a truel stock) 91/30?

Holy crap! That thing looks awesome! Now I'm not into modifying my old guns(I like to keep them just as they were built) but I must say that I'm very impressed with your work. Good job!

Good Job! I bet a lot of work went into that project. I'd have went with a turned down bolt handle even though its only set up for iron sights, but hey that's just me.

Felt recoil is not bad at all with the pad it has on. it absorbs a lot of the recoil.

I was all for the turned down bolt. but owner of the rifle did not want to do it. I think it would have been better as far as feel. its a matter of taste I guess. :)

Looks kinda like a crutch with a mosin barreled action stuck on it. Very unique.

Not that bad. Don't like it, but that's just my personal opinion. If he's happy with it, so be it.

Doesn't look to me like any Bubba has touched that rifle. That build is most certainly a professional job done.
    I like it.

If it had a shorter barrel it would look like one of those pilot/backpacker/survival dealies

To shorten a barrel WOULD be Bubba'ing it.

In his post he said he replaced the barrel and kept the original. He could have replaced it with a factory-short barrel, thereby skirting the Bubba issue

I just had a flash of a take-down Mosin survival rifle...

No he said he kept the original barrel on it because it looked new and there was no point replacing it.

It is pretty. The pistol grip looks a little too square, though. Can't imagine it being overly comfortable. More range time will probably result in some tweaks to ergos. I must say that camo is beautiful.

The only factory shortened barrels I know about were the 91-59 carbines, and the 91-38 ?
