Dad Getting Screened

Discussion in 'Prayer Request' started by GoodNeighborSam, Dec 4, 2017.

  1. Hi guys,

It's been a while, I'll post an update a little later on the elk hunt.

Well, it's been a little trying on dad, we're getting some opinions on his knees (both probably need replaced) but one thing we haven't noticed was some swelling in his neck. Not too long ago he was put on some thyroid medication, but he never felt any different with it. He had a physical late last week, and though his doctor is a very straight shooter, he said not to be worried, but we are still going to a screening clinic (MRI I think) this afternoon. Hopefully it's something as simple as adjusting his medication, that's what my mother and I think. I was just hoping you guys could keep him in your thoughts. I'll post updates as we are updated. Thank you.

Never a problem for an extra prayer. You don't even need to ask this bunch, just tell us!

Prayers sent and hoping for the best.

Not sure if this is appropriate but FWIW - I'm no doctor, but I know 2 ladies (one in Maine and the other in Baltimore - they don't know each other) that have dealt with thyroid cancer. It is going on 10 years and 15 years since they were treated and are still free of it. Apparently, it is one of the more treatable cancers to deal with and the success rate is pretty high. And there are many benign causes for swelling in the thyroid gland.

So while there is always reason for concerns, the chances are excellent for a good outcome.

May I add to Junction15's optimism? My pastor had a similar diagnosis years ago. He was treated and has had few side effects. Cancer free. Modern treatment is very effective, if such is required.

Thoughts and prayers for the best possible news.
