I have read that in WWII Garand production sometimes new receivers would have a barrel from the previous month affixed at Springfield. I have a March 1945 receiver 3,553,xxx and a December '44 SA barrel. Is that too much of a stretch with two entire months in between to make a correct set?
I bought them together from CMP as a barreled receiver a few years ago, but they were refinished and I figure they were put together when they were reparked.
Thanks for any opinions.
