Deer Seasons Are Coming Up

I hunt either around Boerne, Texas which is just north of San Antonio or in El Campo, Texas which is west of Houston. It always depends on my mood and how far the shot is going to be on what I take. Most of the time I use my .257 Ackley Imp. with 100gr Speer flat-base Spitzer or my .300 Wby with 180gr Sierra Gameking.

Well our deer season started last month still nothing with the bow. Next Week I am on a Smokepole only Elk Hunt, Bull or Cow is legal. The I am driving back to TN and will be hunting Deer on my Hunting Property (landowners can take 3 bucks and 13 does). I will also be hunting deer on Ft. Campbell if they are open and of course our local refuge. Our seasons are as follow : Archery - Sept 30 - Oct 31 Muzzle loader Nov. 3rd - 9th, Archery - 9th - 21st Nov., Gun Opener Nov 22nd and the season ends Jan 13th

Season opens here this Saturday. Going to be hunting a new area this year where the shots are gonna be a little longer than my old lease.Almost feel like I'm cheating this year as I will be using my AR10T in .308. Saw some nice bucks last weekend on my last scouting trip but they were way out there.

November 15th, 16th and 17th I'll be driving north of Kansas City to a wooded farm area along the Missouri River near the community of Rock Port where my son-in-law's family has about 100 acres of wooded and hilly ground. They've had salt blocks out all year and there's plenty of signs of deer running that area.
I'll be using my new Remington 700 BDL 30-06 with a Leuopold 3x9x40 scope as I sit on a tree stand (hopefully awake) about 12 feet high next to a big oak tree overlooking where I hope to harvest the largest buck I've ever seen with a single 30 cal. round of a Remington Express 150 grain core-lokt.
I've got an "either/or" hunting license but I'd prefer to harvest a large buck.
With the luck of sighting and killing the deer I'll then use my 6" Remington Kraton Handled knife to field dress the carcass. Ugh!
Next it's off to to the butcherer to process the meat and turn in my deer tag.

well I can say there are a lot and as a property owner I get all of them that doesn't include the 3 I can take on Ft. Campbell under federal
I have already seen 6 in the past week up there just not confident in my bow skills yet. give me a rifle and every one would have been in the freezer already

Hunted all day. Son-In-Law got his deer about 8 a.m. Took him only one hour to bag a nice buck.
Myself, I saw four deer, all well within shooting distance but not clear shots. Wanted to see the entire deer before pulling the trigger. There's still tomorrow and maybe even Monday to try again. Weather was unusually warm...started around 35 deg F and got up to mid 50's. Same is forcast for the next two days.
I've borrowed my SIL's computer at his home in Maryville, MO, which is 90 miles northwest of Kansas City. I'm hunting at RockPort, MO which is in the far NW corner of the state of MO. Used my Rem 700 BDL 30-06 with 150 grain Remington cartridges. My tree stand is about 12 ft high situated along a creek full of water and large trees and brush covering the hills. This is all located about 1/2 mile from the Missouri River.
Watched a video last night of a professional butcherer de-gutting a deer and later completely butchering him. Left for the hunt this morning at 5 a.m. in order to get in place for the hunt. Quit today about 4 p.m. and will be back there again tomorrow. Looking for the big buck I didn't see today.
