Howdy!

I'm currently a resident in the socialist republic of New Jersey, and I'm currently undergoing the task of acquiring a NJFID card. My question is, what is a nice shotgun to buy, first time around. I'm looking for something a little more tactical, seeing as I want to use it for the range, and home defense. I also don't want to have to spend too much ( $650 tops ). Now New Jersey has some pretty tight restrictions on these, the shotgun cannot have any of the following;

* Any shotgun having a barrel or barrels of less than 18 inches in length measured from the
breach to the muzzle

*A semi-automatic shotgun with either a magazine capacity exceeding six rounds, a folding stock or a pistol grip.

Now, I've been looking at the classic Remington 870, but I also have my eyes on the Mossberg 590. I'd like some tactical trinkets, like a flashlight on the pump. Any input would be helpful. Thanks for any and all comments,

-Kyu

Mossberg and Remington both make combo kits with 2 Barrels and either one would be a good choice.This gives you some versatility as far as hunting and Home defense... I have both , and in all Honesty, I lean a bit more towards the Mossberg as far as the Internal Workings are concerned.

I got to agree with Mossey...Check out Mossbergs web site...If your not Bald headed they got more shotguns in all kinds of configuration than you got hairs on your head.
The price range you mentioned you'll be able to buy Any Remington or Mossberg you want.
You'll love the Mossberg site...A.H

870 will outlast you

Your bones and muscles cannot outlast the metallurgy and quality of an 870.
The 870 is so well proven you need not worry what brand of ammunition you fire.
