Hey Guys,
Mikex2 reporting on shooting the SKS for the first time. My son's gun was pretty much on target. Mine was a little less than that. I couldn't hit a 4'x8' sheet of plywood at 100 yds much less the target. :hmmm: Actually, I finally started getting someholes in the paper by the end of the day. The next day was a little better. With much tweaking, I was finally able to have groups within a 6" circle. I had to realize that not only was my son's gun better zeroed in, but he is 22 years younger and his eyes are better. At any rate, we met some great people at the range and had a great two days of shooting. Looking forward to taking the SKS out again.

Atta boy Mike! bought my 1st sks before clinton's Assult WeaponsBan went into effect. Gave each of my two sons have an sks (24 & 22). Both boys shot their first deer with them. My son's fience actually brandished the sks when a stranger came to their door when son wasn't home. The stranger hightailed it! he evidently had no business there.
Son # 1 took his girl friend out to shoot. He grabbed a home-ade .22 pivoting steel target I fabricated for the boy scout to use. He freakin blew holes in it! Need less to say scouts didnt get a chance to use it.

have fun and be safe.

Hey Guys, thanks for the input. One of the neat things about zeroing it in was when I got tired of shooting one at a time, I just loaded 10 rounds in it and blasted away.
The gun was shooting way high and I had to aim at the grass below the target just to hit paper. Didn't have a front sight tool so we rigged one up out of a 1/4" socket and dremel tooled it to fit. The home made tool worked and I was able to actually hit what I was aiming at. Will definetly get a front sight tool at the next gun show or ebay.
Very happy with the guns performance, just aggrevated at my performance. I can't believe I let myself get this old and feeble. Guess it beats the alternative of not getting older and pushing daisy's. All-in-all it is has been fun for my son and I to do something together :) even if he did outshoot me :(
He said that I was scaring the targets. What a wiseguy. Happy shooting fella's.
