Don: Long time no chat. Have you had a chance to check out the new Boron Carbide finish yet? I think the next gun we do we should look into it. I have seen only pictures of the finish but it looks good to me. I have a couple of 1911 projects in mind and we have to do the CZ75 as well. Take care and give my best to Gordon. John Bleifuss
  2. Hi John, I've talked to the Boron Carbide rep, and saw a gun that had been done at the Shot Show. Interesting finish. They're applying it over a chrome base, and the shinier your base metal, the blacker it seems. The matte surfaces tend to be more charcoal. It's too thin to bother tolerances, but slick and lubristic. Rockewells at about 93c, which is 20 points harder than hard chrome. I have a customer who wants a 1911 done, and it'll go out in about a week, and their turnaround seems to be about 2 weeks. Sounds like something worth trying, and I'll let you know. Hope you and yours are doing well,
