FYI: So much for the ostrich races

    And I was going to to be sponsered by PETA this year....
    Some light harted news.

    Castle Rock, Colorado-AP -- So much for the ostrich races.

    Next week's Rocky Mountain Ostrich Festival has been canceled. That's because the race course is being used as a fire command center.

    A Douglas County spokesman says they have no idea how long the U-S Forest Service will need the fairgrounds.

    The fairgrounds are currently home to 15-hundred firefighters battling the huge blaze southwest of Denver.

    In normal years, the festival includes ostrich races, an ostrich parade, and a carnival.

    Nah, mostly dark, greasy meat like duck

    Then why'd you say it was dark and greasy??:hmmm: :insane:
  9. Emu leg (the only dang thing on the bird with any amountable meat) is dark red, lean, tender and with a grain very similar to beef.

    The roast we had was marinated and closely resembled a beef roast after grilling.

    But, I didn't care for the Eagle or the California Condor though.

    Course the diffrence between Sea Turtle and Manatee is that you serve White wine with Sea Turtle. :)

  13. I've had it a few times on the BBQ and I like it. I prefer dark meat over the white but at about $15 a pound, thats one big expensive chicken!
  14. I'm confused is it dark and greasy or dark and lean?
