I wanted to know what this bayonet is that I have. I believe that its a Garand and have been told so. On the blade it has the ordanance bomb w/AFH above and 1943 below. It also has AFH on the handle (no grips). What is it and who made it. - myers

Yes,it's an M-1 bayo. Made by American Fork and Hoe. And,I think they are still in business, making garden tools, and sold under several other names. Not positive about that though.
1943 was the last year that the 16" M1905/42 bayonet was made. Most ended up being cut down to 10" blades. You can get the black plactic grips from Sarco , or Springfield Sporters.
I would rather have . . . . .

whatever would be original. Leather or wood or plastic or whatever I don't know. What would be period and if anyone has anything email me at [email protected]

The black plastic grips are correct for a Garand bayonet dated 1943. WW1 (m1905) bayonets have wood grips. Bob White
