Gentlemen,
This as you can see is a photo of the Garand in 1931. However, we find a report of a test dated Oct. 19, 1931. I hope you might fine this data of interest.

it's mentioning rifle number 1!!
Is this rifle in a museum somewhere??

Gentlemen,
There are about 9 M1 Garand Rifles marked as Number 1. I have seen about 6 of them in my research.

Ed,

Are all the # 1's in the same place or are they "all over the country"??
Do you have an idea why there are that many #1's??

They were strict in numbering the rifles so what happened??

Not at the start it seems that during different Projects Ordnance and SA would mark them as #1.
