Just wanted you to know that the owner of GA Schlomo Helsinki has a less than friendly attitude towards those of us who collect german mausers. But he gladly accepts the 10$ from the sell of any mauser on his site. I had emailed him of this fact and told him if these were his feelings then I would not do business with his site. (PS.. I do not own any mausers at all; I just have no room for stupidity) Needles to say he was irate and rather nasty in his reply. I promptly emailed him in return and asked him if the value of 6 million jewish souls were equal to the10$ he glady accepts from the sale of these items? Needless to say that he will not accept email from me anymore.

Schlomo is a bitter old coot that is in the firearms business just for the money. He is a hippocrite. While he does not actively limit or discourage the sale german mausers he does become quite hostile towards you if you have any questions about these items period. If you don't believe me just email him and ask him a legitimate k98k question and get ready for the heat.

I have no room in my life for his bass ackwards line of thinking. Just keep cashing those checks Schlomo; you'll get yours in the end.

How did all this come about? What kind of stuff has he said and done against German Mausers and their collectors?

Phacosprana, what on earth are you talking about? $10 per gun seems to be a very low markup. What do you mean by "I do not own any mausers at all; I just have no room for stupidity" ???? Why were you mad at him? Did he say something in an ad somewhere?

    Clarity

It was on another forum sometime back. A member had emailed GA to ask a question about german mausers and got a rather nasty letter back from Schlomo which he had posted. I believe that GA charges a 10$ fee if you sell a gun using the services offered (up to a certain asking price -1000$ ?) He had a less than favorable opinion of us that like to collect and learn of these items. With his hostile attitude you would have thought him to be a member of HCI. This was his tone with me (us).

The german mausers he hates so much were (some) rearsenaled and used by the Israelis during the six days war and other subsequent battles in that era. Schlomo makes no attempt to filter or remove these items when listed on the GA site. Knowing that these items are a hot commodity among traders and that prices can easily reach 2000$ or more for some of the finer pieces he gladly accepts any commissions his site earns from the sales of these weapons. He seems to have the attitude that these guns are evil bc they were used by the Nazis. Kinda like the "Guns kill people so lets get rid of guns" mentality.

Just email him a letter and youll find out.

The vast majority of the German Army in WW2 did not belong to the LEFT wing Nationalist Socialist party. The Nazis did support gun bans, with only special police forces, the military, and celebrities, politicians, and heavy political contributors being allowed to have guns.

The whole thing started over a question a guy had about a Walther pistol. Helsinki replied to the question that "anyone who collects German war surplus is stupid. All of the surplus German firearms should be taken and dumped in the sea". Helsinki could not stop anyone from selling them on his sight, but if there was a problem, he would not get involved because he felt that German surplus firearms are evil. When the guy emailed Helsinki back to ask him why he felt that way, Helsinki would not accept his email, nor the email of others trying to figure out what was going on. Since then, I have heard a LOT of people getting hateful replies to questions about items for sale.

    Im an Idiot!!!!

Calvin I disagree that he can't do anything to stop the sales of german surplus. It is a private business, privately owned where the owner can designate what he wants to sell and what guidelines you must follow to use the site. SLOWMO told me that I was an idiot to think that he has time to read all the posts on the site to see what is posted under the item description.

Well I must be an Idiot because I thought computers were programmable and all he would have to do would be to place a filter (kinda like the one Jesse has for language) to weed out these items. Let's see: NAZI; SS; GERMAN; HITLER; K98; LUFTWAFFE; WAFFEMNAMT... that should just about do it. Kinda simple isn't it.

Now he may not be the owner or sole owner so some of these policies may be out of his sphere of influence. Nevertheless he seems to have no conscience when it comes to cashing the checks.

Look do what you want people but Im not giving that coot any of my money.

    Thanks for your input Calvin.:assult:

Phacopsrana, that would be my thought. I saw the email Helsinki sent the guy, and it was pathetic. I haven't been to the website, and do not intend to. You would think he would block sales of these "evil" firearms. However, my grandfather was wounded very badly in Normandy (D-Day +13), by a German ambush, but he said he didn't hold a grudge against them. The Germans had a job to do, too, and he said he knew most of them didn't want to be there, either. He wasn't offended that I bought a K98, and he actually liked it. I think Helsinki is just being an idiot. I understand Helsinkis' thoughts, and they are honorable. However, to say that anyone who owns one is stupid is irresponsible and suicidal. If Helsinki refuses to accept German firearms, how come I've heard about people buying Russian and Japanese weapons on his site? Where's his sense of morals with these weapons? I mean, Stalin was a bigger murderer than Hitler ever thought of being. And the Japanese? What about Burma, Bataan, China and the Phillipines? They were practicing cannibals, and murdered tens of thousands of Allied POWs, not to mention millions of innocent civilians. Where's the morals there?

    Schlomo speaks

I have attached a copy of his reply I recently got. I tried to solicit a response from him the other day and he appears to have TONED it DOWN some. He claims there was an unsatisfied customer but never bothered to reveal this info to me when I first emailed him. Sounds like he got tired of the negative responses. You can still hear the disgust in his response for german gun collectors. Judge for yourself; but he's not getting my money.

"Yes, our attitude about WWII german guns has been made very clear, and
we've also publically stated that we do not intend to ban them is it's
impossible to police. This whole thing came up due to a disgruntled buyer
who wanted us to ban a seller who did nothing wrong and he didn't get his
way. These people who have now made a big deal out of it are in fact being
manipulated by him and some german nazis who took up his cause
conveniently. But yes, we do feel that those guns will bring nothing but
bad to their owners and we discourage making them a treasured collectable.
