Saw an H&R Handi Rifle yesterday and wondered what it was---Guy who had it said it had a thumb hole stock, but it looked like a Choate stock to me, also the barrel was ported, never seen that before. Was a model SB-2
Has upper and lower rails and an adjusting screw/bolt on the botton of the stock and had what looked like 3 spacers between the back of the stock and the butt pad. Stock was synthetic of course and the fore arm appeared to be wider than usual----the burning question is: What is it? Model # if you know it,
any info will be appreciated.

Sounds to me like it is a H&R Ultra that has had a Choat Varmit stock added to it.The barrel at one time was offered with the ports, shame it is no longer offered.Should be a nice long range shooter.

Jeepmann1,
Thank you very much for that info, it is much appreciated.
I have subsequently found that H&R does offer a model with this type of stock, however, later models don't include a 30.06 chambering nor the ported barrel.
Still trying to identilfy the correct model no. or the correct description for this particular model.
