I have an H&R Sportsman top break 22 made in 1955. Gun looks almost unused, finish is as new, cylinder times up and locks in place, and latch/ hinge are tight as new. Grips have a nick or two, but otherwise in excellent shape.
However, my question for you H&R pros is: Should it be OK to shoot Stingers and other hyper 22 LRs in this gun on occasion? Thanks.

Yes, but you probably won't see much improved performance. Cylinder gap and short bbl will rob velocity. Nevertheless, it won't hurt the firearm. BTW, I own one of those and it is a fine carry-on-a-hike gun.
