I hope that someone can help me ID this rifle, I got it from my uncle and I know every little about British weapons. I am pretty sure that it is an Enfield rifle. The serial number is 7607X (Over the letter “Lâ€￾) On the reciever ring-it is marked R.F.I, 1951,No 1, MK3 *. At first I thought that the stock was broken and repaired (wrapped with wire and bolt thru stock), but as I On the reciever ring-it is marked R.F.I, 1951,No 1, MK3 * look at it , the stock is not broken, and appear to have been modified at a armory? Can any one help me ID this rifle.

What you got is an India made Enfield.
The factory is Ishnapor (Rifle Factory Ishnapor)
It is known that the Indians wrapped wire around the stock parts for extra thightness. Also you can see that the wood-work is rougher than the english/canadian/australian counterparts.
I would not get rid of the wire if you like to keep the rifle original!!!
