16in. heavy barreled carbine.I LOVE THE DANG THING!!She shoots lights out, never fails to fire, feed or function (even when very dirty).
Ma question ta all ya AR experts is: How do ya tighten up the buttstock to tha lower half?
She's jest a tad loose, not bad at all, but it bugs me suppin fierce sumtimes.
Sorry ta be such a stupid rube, but I's jest a dumb ol country boy. I'm sure tha fix is easy an obvious, but it has escaped yer ol cuzzin.
Thanks in advance cuzzins,Mitch

Hey Mitch,
I can probably help ya, just need a little info. Is the buffer tube tight and the buttstock itself is a little loose around it? And just how loose is it? if that is the case, and you have the top buttstock screw as tight as it will go, you first, need to unscrew that top screw and slide the buttsock off the buffer tube, be careful not to loose the selecter detent and spring (the buttstock holds it in place) and make sure there is nothing in the buttstock preventing it from seating all the way (i.e., clean it out), clean the end of the buffer tube and the protrusion from the stock that seats into the lower as well as the hole it goes in. After that, if it is stll loose, your best bet is to file down the end of the buffer where the srew goes in (just a little at a time). Keep checking it until it's tight. That will work. Oh by the way, I hope this is a standard stock and not a collapsable. I hope that helps, let me know. Good Shooting! Eric

Hey Cuzzin Mitch,
I don't know why I didn't think to tell you this before. But here's a real quick fix to tighten up that buttstock: Just unscrew that top rear butstck screw all the way, then slowly slide the buttstck off the buffer tube (that way you don't lose the selctor detent or spring). you only need to come off about an inch, then get a small piece of paper, wad it up and place it in the indention in the lower, just below the buffer tube, then push the stock all the way back on the lower/tube (be careful to not let the paper fall out or pinch the detent spring), then tighten the screw. That partner is an easy, easy fix and that will definately cure it being a tad loose. and it wont be a botherin ya suppin fierce. all you need is a screw driver, small piece of paper and about two minutes. Cause I know nobody likes takin any kinda file to their guns. Sorry I didn't think of this sooner. Let me know how it turns out partner. Good Shooting! Eric
