Found this old .38 caliber centerfire shotgun, it is a falling block design and mechanically very tight. H&A made these in .38 and .44 calibers, .38 XL or .44XL Shot calibers, XL Model Single Gun, single barrel guns, 18" or 24" barrel, made from 1885 to 1908. Mine is missing the buttstock....The design of the gun is very straight forward and simple, if modern steels were used this design could be tweeked into some neat cartridges...I'd like it in .22Hornet or .22K-Hornet, .22WMRF, .25-20, .218Bee, it'd also be nice in .357Magnum or .357Maximum.

I think I will restock it eventually, I like the design and would like to use the action as a template for one in 4140 steel, the hardest part seems like broaching the breechblock cuts in the receiver. All other parts are pretty simple machining operations, like the hammer, trigger, breechblock...
