Hi everyone. How has everyone been doing ? I have been doing better since I have got some income. I’m hoping to go back to work at the end of the month. I have been buying some prepping supplies as much as possible.
I have finally gotten a new chainsaw .
I also wanted to give a update on the current shortages . Some firearms are getting hard to get hold off. Ammunition is almost no existent. Now I would say a rifle chambered in 7.62 x 39 would be good.
That’s about the only ammunition that I have seen. My local Walmart has been getting some canning supplies but if your not quick at grabbing what you need then you won’t get it. I haven’t noticed any food shortages.
So I hope everyone is doing ok

I added a bolt action 7.62 x 39 a few years ago, since I have an AR, AK, and Mini 30 already. It is a great little gun and cheap to shoot. 7.62 x 39 is the only ammo I can buy every day and still pretty cheap, 40 cents each. If you do not have a steady flow of ammo it does not matter, so it make sense to add one in that caliber. It is a great deer killer and in the AR and bolt gun extremely accurate. The mini 30 will shoot about 2 inches, the AK not so much in mine. Probably a better survival round than the 5.56 because of it's better hunting ability. And better than my 300 BLK, which ammo is now $1 per. My 2 cents.

I went down to the Kroger at about 7 P.M. Kroger is probably the most popular grocery store in town. It's definitely the largest. They had a few things in the flier this week that I wanted to buy (and I can get the employee discount by punching my ex-wife's phone # into the terminal - she doesn't mind because she gets the fuel points then; in fact, she was the one who told me to start doing that). I found everything on my list but they were nearly out of orange juice. My older daughter has caught a cold and I definitely wanted to get some orange juice to load her up on Vitamin C. I ended up having to buy the el cheapo made from concentrate kind. They were also rather low on flushable wipes, which is a necessity in this house -plenty of TP though. I didn't go to the meat section because I didn't need anything but I suspect it was destroyed based on how beat up the dairy was.

Local walmarts have been stocked to the gills, aldis and pallet return stores look like soviet union stocks. I suspect people buying as cheap as they can.

No trouble here with grub or TP at either Wally World or Harps.

We do not buy from Walmart. I refuse to finance a rabid anti-gun marketer. Walmart has damaged the 2nd Amendment rights. They have closed down independent gun sales.
Walmart Announces New Sales And Store Policy Regarding Guns And Ammunition (bearingarms.com)
That's nice but with my budget and the fact that my choices here are Harps and Walmart I'm stuck unless you count me hunting and fishing.
Besides the "boutique" grocery store in Fayetteville AR. And I won't let my sales tax money go to that mini people's republic.

And another thing.
I'm actually glad they aren't selling handgun ammo anymore.
You know why?
Because the quality might actually go back up.
About 15 years ago I stopped buying .45ACP ammo from then for the brass.
Because many of the primer pockets looked like they had been bored out!
And the stuff shot like crap even for plinking ammo.

Agreed. When Walmart is the only game in town that you can afford, that's where you shop. My only other choice is to drive 15 miles to get to Aldi, which negates any savings. And that 15 mile drive takes money out of the pockets of the people who live here and work at the store.

As for their anti 2a stance, I have a feeling it's regional and local management thing because I can still get ammo at my local Walmart. Not that they carry what I need or want, but they do carry ammo.

Aldi has been running really hot ads recently. I've gone in there a couple of times in the last month or so. Would have gone one other time but I forgot to bring a quarter.

We have a Walmart in our small Western Cow Town. We are over 100 miles to another store of any kind. Walmart is like the invasive Covid 19 flu. They kill off all competition and then decide what you should have .

I am lucky enough to have a surplus of grocery stores here for some reason. Its like competition between them. We have six of them within several miles. My favorite is Aldis. Best selection of produce, veggies, cheeses and meats. They have way too many snack selections though like so many chips, pretzels, corn chips etc... I like the store because of clean and plenty of room to shop. Shelves never empty and produce is fresh always. I get my fresh green beans, broccoli and asparagus there. I never need a quarter for the shopping cart as we all pass them on to another .

We have 2 Krogers, a Miejers, Walmart, Aldis, Selfridge Commisary and a BJ’s all within a three and a half mile radius of one another. Also Target has a good sized grocery department with Menards having a select choice of foods. No problem getting what we need with Walmart being at the bottom of the list.

We "used" to have Wilson's Market Basket, Dillon's, Watson's, Consumers, IGA and one other from my early childhood in Springdale AR that I can't recall the name of.
Also in Springdale not far from the school I used to attend was a old general store type building with wood floor. That was then being used as a grocery with a meat section that sold cold cuts. I really missed that place.

Hello everyone. How is everyone? Me I’m doing ok . We are getting a little bit of snow here in my area .
As for my health I’m good . I’m able to start back to work Monday. I’m glad and I’m not glad . With all the time I have off I have not got much work done. Can’t do much with a broken wrist and smashed arm . So the next few days before work I have got quite a few projects to finish.
Have any of you guys given in and gotten the COVID vaccine? I haven’t but my sister her husband and youngest son have all gotten the vaccine. That was a few weeks ago . They seem to be ok . I’m not getting it.
As of my last report there still isn’t any ammo in the caliber s I have.
As far as food the stores in my area seemed stocked. My local Walmart is now carrying Ready Wise 3 day emergency food buckets. $40
I just purchased a new sidearm. It’s a cap&ball replica. The thing about it I can pretty much have plenty of ammunition for it . As far as lead caps I have room for 1000s powder 2 pounds should last for years if stored right.
Any way more of a toy to keep me busy and shooting more . Another cool thing I can totally rebuild it if parts ware out.
Tomorrow I’m going to order a few things then I’m going to town to pick up supplies .
I hope all is well in your home town.

What caliber, brand model?. They are not a toy, just six shooters. Be sure and stock up on caps. They seem to be seasonal in some of the stores around here. Got a wrist pending fusion surgery myself, sure interferes with work. Bridger has a collection of fine rugers, cap and ball, gun porn quality Pictures on post a while back

Things here are rolling along. Cutting wood, sewing masks and generally trying to lead as much of a normal life as possible. I've seen runs on things at the grocery store that didn't make sense until I remembered people are staying home and cooking more. The one that got me really scratching my head was frozen vegetables...lol

Hey guys. I just wanted to toss up a thread for us to come by every so often to talk about how we are doing today and how things are where we are.

As some of you know I am in a "small town" in Alabama, minor urban area, walking distance from vast farming areas and short drive to several areas of wilderness. So here in small town AL, the only real worry is the panic. Everywhere is out of everything useful to the average Baby Boomer, but those of us who frequent this section would have only a little trouble finding some handy thing to get by with. The schools are all shut down for the next few weeks and most of the government building will probably follow soon.

Me and my immediate family are in no danger of going hungry and we are all still working our regular hours. I'm kicking myself for not scratching that case of toilet paper off my prep list years ago, but what can I say? Ammo, water, food, first aid, trauma, armor, cooking supplies, soap, and much more all came first. Fuel and TP were next. Fueling up tomorrow. The only thing that worries me even a little is the health of my grandparents (86), already with the flu/pneumonia but doing well at home, and paying bills IFFF my job closes for a while, but for the foreseeable future, we have more work that "has to" be done, so we'll keep working and keep getting paid.

Everyone else good? Things OK where you are??

Hi everyone .’how how are you all doing? I’m back to work now I have been back for two weeks now. Payday is coming so I plan on going and buying some more preps. That’s if I happen to get paid. I feel like there is going to be complications with my paycheck. Now that worker’s compensation is done paying me. Plus I set up direct deposit. So far nothing as far as being posted on my account yet.
I still might get one paper check before they start my direct deposit . It should have started this check I would think . On my companies app that lets employees keep track of there hours and pay , taxes etc. According to the company app. My direct deposit has been set up the company has my account info.
With that said the few times I have been to town the food , toilet paper and other goods seemed to be stocked . At least at the stores I went to . Now the ammo and reloading supplies are almost none existent. Very sad situation that I don’t see getting better .
Work has been going good though. I haven’t had any problems as far as my injury. I have been able to do all of my daily task at work .
As far as the family goes everyone is still healthy, no COVID19 here anyway .

I made through payday . I went got some preps. I also got some firewood in and some propane. We have a storm coming our way so the masses are flooding Walmart an Kroger’s so the grocery shopping will have to wait .
I also need to get some ammunition and some gun powder.

I also have started my back up communication set up I ordered a couple handheld units. When we get our income taxes I plan on putting together the base station.
After I see what ranges we get on our property. I’m going to look into building a repeater for the areas that have no signal
I also want to get more medical supplies. Plus some over the counter meds
