I have an inherited Marlin 22 stamped with Newhaven CT, serial # 02153785, and it is stamped with Model 60, "microgroove barrel." I'm not understanding how to deduce the year of manufacture from the instructions for serial numbers that start with zero, if anyone is kind enough to assist me with its age. Thank you.

Subtract 25 from 2000 your gun was made in 1975

From what I read here, yours would be 1998. 2000 - 02......

They must have used the first two numbers as the date in 1972 also. That's the year I bought mine and the start of my serial number.
