I load .308 with Win.748 and Hornady 150 gr. Spire points
.30-06 with IMR4895 and IMR4350 and Hornady bullet above

8mm Mauser with IMR4895 and Speer Spitzer
    All have worked great.

I roll my own 308 Win and 30-06 hunting ammo. They shoot better in the rifles that I own. The 308 gets Speer or Sierra 165 SPBTs. The 30-06 gets Speer or Sierra 180 gr SPFBs. Again, just because those were more accurate of the various bullets I tried so far. (I have not done a LOT of experimentation - I try various recipes and stop when I get the results I want. I usually stay with those until I can't get the bullets or powder any more)

    I certainly would if I could. #slugcountry

Nope haven’t messed with slugs. Light fields work too well from my 20ga Mossy 500 to mess with. And I only shoot 1-2 hunting and 1-2 for zero verification.

Since I have changed from a .300 blackout round in an AR pistol which are a little touchy to load, to the 350 Legend round that is as easy as a pistol round to load & a lot cheaper. Yes I will be loading my own deer hunting rounds.

The Hornady #3031 bullet loaded to 2,950 with IMR 4350 was my go to load in 30-06. Killed an antelope at over 550 yards with it.

I tried Winchester Silver Tip 168 grains, which shot under .5 moa all day long, so I switched to that ammo for hunting. Practice with reloads and hunt with that factory load.

So, IMHO it just matters what works in your gun. 90% of the high power ammo I shoot are my reloads, 243, 257 Wby,308, 300 BLK, 30-06, 300 Wby, and 45-70.

In the 300 Wby the Remington ammo is $65 per box at Cabelas. A few year back I was in a Walmart and they had them on clearance at $8 per box and I bought all they had maybe 10-11 boxes. I sold a couple boxes and got my money back and have 8 left, so I will have factory ammo for that gun for a while. It groups 1-1.5 moa which is good enough for me. I keep them indoors so they should last forever. Anybody wants to shoot it, I have full power reloads, they do not shoot it much, LOL.

I hand load for everything I own. I have been using the 165gr Sierra Game Changer in both 308 and 7MM Rem Mag. I did load the 150gr Nosler Ballistic Tip hunting round in the 7RM but it was pretty destructive on game.
I use the 145 Sierra Game Changer in my 270Win. I use a Swift 130gr Scirocco in my 6.5 Swede as they seem to be the most accurate out of that particular rifle. For 243 I use the 100gr Sierra Game King.

I used to. I, honestly, can't load find a .308 load as accurate as Hornady. At least not in my hunting rifle. Black Friday deals are my friend now.

My .243, .30-06, .25-06, and .450 Bushmaster handloads can't be beat, but I buy .308 now. And .308 is my primary hunting cartridge.

  10. I've only used factory ammo in the Mosin Nagants on 2 deer, a Mossberg 500 12 ga. on 1deer when I lived in ohio, 2 deer with a 243, and 1 with a 35 Remington Other than that all deer were shot with hand loads. All deer were very dead, none seemed any deader than the others, dead is dead.

  11. If I own it and it has a centerfire primer I reload it! The only factory ammo i buy is rimfire!

for the 300 bk users, try little gun with the 125 nosler and 150 nosler. i shoot two remington modle 7 AAC,s and get 2400 fps with the 125,s and 2200 fps with the 150,s with no signs of presser in my bolt rifles.

I load my centerfire hunting ammunition. I wouldn't have as much fun hunting deer if I didn't prepare handloads for the experience.

Can't ever remember buying a load for any deer rifle since I started hunting. My dad bought reloads from a fellow worker when i first started hunting with a Win. 94 30-30. then I started reloading my own later on.

Today I reload for the win 300 win mag, 30-30, 32 win. special, 7mm 08's, 243, and even though I do not hunt deer with them the 220 Swift, 357 Mag and 38 special.

When Remington stopped making and selling the Buck hammer slugs I started reloading them. I like to practice or just plain shoiot and do not like paying a couple dollars a round for any thing.

No longer waste money on rim fire stuff either. A 22 Hornet loads down very nice to 22LR speeds and you can choose the pill for it
Although a 220 swift will load down to 22LR speeds I have found is better as a 22 mag speed round again choose the pill you want to shoot.

I don't know about Hornady 60 gr but Barnes 62 gr 223 TSX are deadly on deer !!
