I went to the local Fred Meyer's today and sat and watched two Mature Male Bald Eagles do their dance from 500+ feet down to 50 ft in a fight that would curl your tongue !! Truly awesome as they gripped each other and spun to earth !! I thought this only happened in the Spring ??

What's important is you took the time to watch a beautiful dance in the sky... You're lucky..

That's something most people never get to see. You're lucky, Steve!

Sure they were males? Sounds similar to the way large raptors mate.

Hawks glide, talons interlocked, female upright, and male underneath wings outstretched. They can loose 300ft of altitude or more during the short process.

But, as you said, usually only in spring.
