Please help me identify this old double hammer shotgun. I belonged to my wife’s great grandfather. It went through a house fire and sat in a dilapidated for at least 20 years. The only markings I can make out are “USA” on the side of the receiver.

Sure is an oldie. Appears to be an exposed hammer pin-fire double barrel. maker at this point would be a real guess. Still an interesting find.

Your shotgun appears to be made by Hopkins&Allen of Norwich, CT I will include a picture of one in nice shape you will see the likeness
