If ammo was available and affordable would you be interested in a modern pistol chambered in 7.62x25?

Just looking to see opinons on the topic...If Ruger/or name your favorite manufacturer, made a handgun in the 7.62X25 chambering would you be interested in it as a defense/hunting/round? The 7.62x25 is a hot round...in its military configuration it is a ball round; if someone were to make a 7.62 hydrashok/gold-dot bullet for the cartridge would you be interested?

See my post above, they used the 38 super mags, but could only get 4-5 rounds in them. The idea died out because nobody wanted a 5 shot conversion gun. The loaded round is about 1/10 inch longer than both the 38 super and the 45 acp. Probably would work on one of those Coonan 357s.

You can also buy chamber inserts to shoot that round in the 7.62 x 54. View attachment 168905 Gun Parts Corp
I already have a few of the inserts.

I have a few Romanian Tokarev's I like to shoot at the range. Many people dont know or have heard of this fine caliber. I shoot surplus ammo and also I buy the Prvi Partizan Ammo. { PPU } I like the pistols but not the ugly grips. I would like to see other manufacturers design a semi pistol. This caliber is underestimated and a powerful cartridge.

I would like an extra cylinder for my Ruger Blackhawk in .30 Carbine to shoot 7.62x25.
I have a Tok, which I like and a Remington 722 bolt action which John Taylor did for me.

HELL, yes! The pistol I shoot second best of all the ones in ny collection is my Model 57 Tok. I like the CZ-52 as well, but the "back-asswards" safety irks me no end. I'd LOVE to find a way to make the "U.N.C.L.E. Special" with no safety, since it does fit my hand well (though not as well as the Model 57).

Seriously. When someone is looking for a personal defense gun for EDC, I always recommend the Model 57 as a possibility. Yes, it is a ComBloc design. But that just means it will work when you need it to, no matter what. Yes, the sights are clunky. But they are surprisingly good, to the point you need to go to those green dot tritium sights that came on the market a couple of years back to get much better. (Hmmm ... there's an idea -- a Model 57 with modern sights.) Yes, it's only a 9 + 1, but the point has been made by experts like Jeff Cooper that if you can't solve your goblin problem with 10 rounds, it may not be solvable. (Maybe take the Model 57 design and extend the grip so it takes a 10 round magazine for our modern pistol?) But the most important points are these, in no particular order: It has minimal muzzle rise, and you can eliminate that with the muzzle brake; felt recoil is almost nonexistent even without the muzzle brake; and most important, the 7.62x25 cartridge delivers more terminal energy at average pistol combat ranges than the standard 9x19mm NATO cartridge. Personally, I don't see how you can do much better.

I wonder if Ruger could make a double stack version of the Ruger Mark III with a six inch barrel and an integral red dot sight with combat laser sight? That would make a really good goblin-repeller. Or maybe a 4 inch barrel Mark III with a muzzle brake, to elevate the muzzle blast from the "Ohmigawd, he's got a Dirty Harry gun!" to "OHMIGAWD, he's got a bleeping CANNON! Run!"

Or, instead of reinventing things, how about we take the ideas in the second paragraph and build a Model 57 with a 10 round magazine, those green tritium dot sights, maybe add a laser to that. Use 90 grain bullets, perhaps in semi-wadcutter as well as FMJ and JHP, and even if the goblin is wearing body armor, unless he has AR500 plates or better in there he is bound either for the ER or the morgue depending on how well you place your shots.

I suspect there are more than a few people out there who would buy either a Model 57 Update or a Ruger Mark III 7.62. I know I would.

They look like this.

The Norinco like this. Either one would be welcome at my house.

The Rock Island Armory looks a whole lot like the Yugoslav Model 57, but with more modern sights.

The Norinco, I'd want to try before I'd buy. I suspect the sights could be better, and I am a little skeptical about the controls.

The Norinco 762 is not for anyone with small hands. I'm average grip size and that gun with the full wrap rubber grips is huge to me.
I wish they would make a PCC that would take the 7.62x25 round. Even if it was a Hi-point I would buy one.

The Rock Island is supposed to be a standard Rock Island. The magazine is one of those designed to fire the 38 special wadcutter. You can see they chopped it up a bit. It is a custom owned by a gunsmith in Tennesee. Forgot his name.

I have never seen the Norinco but the Utube videos write them up functionally OK.Dominion Arms P762 Review - YouTube
I would sure buy one if the price was right. They have them in Canada. Norinco NP762, SIG Clone in 7.62x25mm Tokarev - AllOutdoor.com Not likely to ever see them in the US.

the magazines from the X25 shown above will fit my type 99 in 9mm [a little sloppy, but no feeding issues] they won't fit the 99B because the B uses a strip in the mag well and a slightly shorter magazine.
i ain't sure if they did that so Norinco could introduce a 380 version by simply using a different chamber reamer, but got chopped off at the knees by the kKKlintons.

The NP 762 goes for around around $400 Canadian. Not super common here but still not difficult to find.

Wasn't that Bill Clinton? Sure, every other product can be imported from China, but we'll really stick it to those Chinese by putting sanctions on one particular product line, and then, only if the guns are vaguely tactical.
Tons of cheap Chinese shotguns are imported every day.

Here is a good article explaining why Chinese handguns, rifles, ammo, and anything from the nation gun company NORINCO are banned from import into the US.

The gummint officials in question are Bush the Elder and Slick Willy Dickwad. George H.W. banned most of the Norinco firearms, and the Liar and Thief banned the rest.

7.62x25 overall length is 1.315". Somewhere on the web is an article that claims loading the cartridge to 1.26" overall cures both the "short mag" issue and any feeding problems. 1.26" is the same length as the .22 TCM.
It might be fun in a 10 inch T\C Contender barrel, scoped to use for groundhogs and other pests

I have 2 of the Mauser broom handles chambered in the original 7.63 x 25. These pistols have stocks which makes them carbines as well. The Chicom 7.62 x 25 is a very fine handgun round.

Found this website. It might be of some interest to those seeking a carbine in this caliber.

I would have loved to have bought one of the CZ 52s back when they were cheap. I think it would've been a fun one to have especially when the ammo was so cheap back then. Now it's as expensive as anything else and so are the guns.
They are still being manufactured.
