Does anyone know which parts of the SAR-1 and WASR-10 are replaced with US made parts in order to comply with the law? Reason being that I hate the SAR-1 buttstock, and have seen good Bulgarian synthetic ones, but it would be a pain to have to replace another part.

Try just changing the follower in your mags. Cheap, and it counts as a US-made part. Then, it's okay to install the stock. HTH

US made buttstocks are not too much more than Bulgarian ones, and save the trouble of replacing a piston.

The most commonly replaced parts on AKs are:
    Hammer, Trigger, Disconnector (FCG)
    P-grip
Piston or Buttstock (SARs have a US piston)
